Art History Insperation:

For this art assignment, I painted/cut out paper to create a city, the reason I chose a city is because I love the city and I wanted to incorporate it into my art piece. My main inspiration for this art assignment was Vincent Van Gogh and Kara walker. I chose Van Gogh because he's one of my favorite artists the colors and paint strokes are so cool and vibrant, so I really wanted to use his art as inspiration. Kara walker cuts out pieces of paper to create silhouettes, I chose Kara Walker as inspiration because she was the artist I was assigned to in the previous art history assignment. For this piece of art, I used acrylic paint, flat canvas paper, and black paper. I had trouble with the Van Gogh part of this artwork because the brush strokes were blending and it didn't look right. I would do one color let it dry then move onto the next and that how I finished. Kara walker's side of the artwork was super simple I easily glued black paper down to represent the silhouettes of the city buildings. I'm really glad I chose these two artists because both went really well together. I would definitely use a better paper like cardstock or something that is deep black, I only had black construction paper which doesn't look that great in person but it works for now.
