3 pinch pots

pinch pot #1:

for my first pinch pot I started out by constructing a pot type bowl. I didn't really have an idea of what i wanted my pinch pot to look like so I just pinched away until I got a shape that i was happy with. I was originally going to make the pinch pot a flower pot, but I didn't feel that the shape of the pinch pot could really be a good flower pot. After i smoothed out the in and outside of the pinch pot I added on the foot. For the foot I used a needle tool and a wooden tool. I first rolled out the clay and pressed it down to form the foot of the bowl. The foot came out pretty good but when it came to placing it onto the pinch pot it was crooked. I decided to leave it crooked since i liked the way it looked and its presentation. Overall my simply but beautiful pinch pot came out pretty well.

For my second pinch pot I made yet another bowl. For this bowl I started out by pinching until i got the right shape and size bowl. This pinch came out similar to the first but just a little more narrow. After my pinch pot was complete I decided to add designs to the outside. I didn't really know what designs to do but I eventually decided on circles. I used a needle tool to smooth the edges and to poke out holes in some of them. The overall outcome was wacky and i love it. I would definitely make the circled maybe a little neater next time and maybe even add some on the inside of the bowl but all in all it came ot good.

My third and final pinch pot of this assignment was a cowgirl hat. I don't really know how i came up with idea but I thought it was a neat idea. Its a little smaller then what i had expected it to be but it still looks cute. I started out by making a small pinch pot. After I had my pinch pot i pushed in the middle just a little but to get the look of a cowgirl/cowboy hat. I added a rim around the hat part and then stuck them together. It was pretty much finished after that but i decided to add some detail. using the needle tool I carved little designs on the outside of that to make it more interesting. I definitely hope this one comes out good in the end. Next time Ill try to add more 3d shapes to it and less carvings.
