I am calling this project self portrait because it is a self portrait of me. The subject is myself based off of a picture. I chose to create this specific work because it had a lot of shadows. For materials I used charcoal and some graphite. I used a variety of techniques including gridding to make the work more accurate and a lot of blending to get all of the lines out. While creating this work I paid close attention to shading by keeping my picture right next to my drawing. I wanted my artwork to look realistic and I did that by using different colors of the charcoal. To add interest to my composition I used movement in my hair to make it look realistic. I like the way my forehead and up look because I think I did good on the shading. However I struggled with my eyes. If I created another work like this I may pay more attention to the more darker and lighter places. My work shows that I learned how to make a realistic portrait.
