I'm calling this project, environments because it shows two of my favorite environments which are the mountains and the beach. The subject is a compass with environments that you would find in the different directions. In the north it is colder which I associate with mountains and the south which is cold and I associate with warm. This is all based off of a sketch and off of a compass. I chose to create this work because it puts together all of the things I like to make the most together. For materials I used ink, paint, and watercolor. I used a variety of methods and techniques including painting While creating this work, I paid close attention to color in the bottom half by trying to make it colorful to contrast the top half of the painting. I wanted my artwork to look interesting and I did that by trying to make an obvious concept. To add interest to my composition I used contrast by making the top half black and white and the bottom half colorful. I like the way it turned out and I am proud of the mountains. However I struggled with trying to balance the amount of things on each side of the compass. If I created another work like this I may use color for both sides so it would overall be more colorful. My technique shows that I learned how to use different materials to make an image that has contrast.
