Final Reflection:
I do feel like my experience in ceramics II was successful because I really enjoyed the class and I am planning to take an independent study next year if I have time. I think the hardest thing while taking this course was finding time to get all of my work done, I think part of this was because of COVID but once we all came back it was better. I overcame this by coming in for advisory and study hall, I also brought some of my work home sometimes.
My favorite project this year was the Eccentric Teapot I really liked this project because I liked how I was able to start with the simple shape of a teapot and turn it into something completely different. Also I really like making animals so I liked being able to make a toucan. I also really like how the final colors turned out I like how the black contrasts the colors of the beak. I think it is really cool that it is able to function as a teapot as well.
My least favorite project this year was probably the respond and confront. I really liked the process of this project but mine ended up exploding. I chose to do my project on koalas and how a lot of them are dying as a result of wildfires. I planned for my project to have a koala and then a thermometer to represent the rising temperatures that cause the wildfires, I also had a quote that described how the population of koalas is perishing. So overall I really liked the process but there was really no product which is why this was my least favorite project.
What I really like about this class is how we get to be creative. I like how we get an assignment but we get to customize it from there so there are no two projects that are the exact same. Also I really like how if we finish something early we can always make something extra like a mug. I can't really think of anything that could have been done differently, I think COVID was what made some of the things more difficult like not getting to do as many projects.
