Pure Contour + Pattern

Im calling this project pure contour animals because the project is supposed to be pure contour of animals. The subjects are a giraffe a crab and a ram, based off of plastic animals. I chose to create this specific work because I liked the details on the animals that I picked. For materials I first used graphite to outline all of my animals, then I outlined them in black sharpie. After I used watercolor to create a sky and then I used colored pencil to create the patterns. I used a variety of techniques including value around the ram trying to create depth. While creating this work, I paid close attention to scale and proportion, by making sure to keep comparing it to the plastic animal figure. I wanted my artwork to look colorful I did this by using multiple different colors. To add to my composition I used patterns by making different shapes to make it more colorful. I like the way that I made the shapes behind the giraffe and I am proud of the colors that I chose for that pattern. However I struggled with pushing down really hard on the pencil in some areas. If I created another work like this I would make more patterns. My work shows that I learned all of the techniques we have learned this year and put them all together.
