What is the Premier League?
I'm sure a lot of you have heard about the MLS, Major League Soccer. The American soccer league. The Premier League is the equivalent of that but in England. Get ready to learn all about how it works.
How do you Win?
To start off, there are 20 teams in the league. Each team will play every other team twice. Once at home and once away. If you win, you will be awarded 3 points. A draw is 1 point and a loss is 0 points. At the end of season, the team with the most points wins the league and gets to hoist the trophy.
The Premier League was founded on February 20, 1992. It has been one of the best leagues in Europe ever since. Its clubs have dominated the European competitions. Only 7 clubs have won the competition, Manchester United(13), Manchester City(7), Chelsea(5), Arsenal(3), Blackburn Rovers(1), Leicester City(1) and Liverpool(1).
The Premier League operates on a promotion system. How this works is by the top teams in the Premiership, the second division of English Football. At the end of every season the top 3 teams from the second division get promoted to the Premier League, and the bottom three from the Premier League get relegated to the second league.
In conclusion, the Premier League is the top level of English football and has led most European competitions in the past years and will continue to do so in the future.
