What it's Like Being in the School Musical (from my point of view)

Being in the school musical (Matilda) is very fun! But staying after school a lot can be a little bit challenging! But rehearsals are very fun and you get to really feel your character!
Anyways, a normal afterschool day at rehearsals would usually start out with getting snacks at the Snack Shack. If you’ve been there after school, you’ll probably know that the line can sometimes be a little bit long! But once you get your snack, that's when rehearsals really start.
Once you get in the theater and put your stuff down, you can basically do whatever until we start doing actual rehearsal stuff. Normally I would talk with my friends, but there's people playing the piano, people eating, people reading, etc.
When we start doing what we’re doing, we can go to a lot of places. I know that we usually stay in the theater when acting, the chorus room when singing, and the movement room when dancing. But sometimes we go to random places like the heart.
Once you really start acting or singing or dancing, that's when you feel so much like your character. It's almost like you’re in their world, in their body, with their thoughts and feelings. I know when I act, I feel immersed in the scene. And when I sing, I feel like I’m a part of it, singing together as it plays. And when I dance, I feel so energetic and excited.
Then there comes the problems. If you’re taking a break with a snack, EVERYONE is gonna want the snack! Protect your snacks people! I also know that if you’re dancing and you wear long sleeve clothes and not a t-shirt or tank top or something like that underneath it, YOU ARE GONNA GET HOT! I’ve experienced it and trust me, it's not fun! Another problem might be that you don't have food or water. When you don't have water, you can just get water from the water fountains, but if you don’t have a snack, you can ask someone. And if they say no, then you’re gonna have to try and last the whole way through rehearsals.
Leaving rehearsals can also sometimes be hard. I would always thank my director and then either get picked up or get on a late bus. My late bus is never really crowded and I’m actually not sure any are. But sometimes we’d have to put everything away, or I’d forget something in the school or something like that. And if it's 4:29 or 4:39, I swear I’d be SPRINTING. I would absolutely be running for my life! But that only happened a few times and I didn’t miss my bus any of those times.
All in all, Matilda is really fun, even if it can sometimes be a little tough. And you get to meet so many talented new people and make so many talented new friends!
