Chapter One
BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP! Leo shot right up. He woke up to a drenched bed and was covered in sweat. Leo had occasional nightmares just like the next person, but this nightmare was exactly what the old man on the street foretold. BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP! The alarm clock cut the silence. Leo immediately slammed the alarm and the annoying beeping ended. Leo adjusted his position so he could sit on the edge of his bed. Still drenched in sweat Leo was shocked at what just happened.
Cut to 1 day earlier, it was an ordinary day for Leo. He woke up, made his way downstairs and ate breakfast. His mom came down to the kitchen and helped Leo get ready for school. Leo was depressed. Today was the first day of school. Leo is a 13 year old who is going into seventh grade. He has two best friends who are named Joe and Rita. Leo and his friends are basically the outcasts of the school. They don’t fit anywhere. They don’t fit in with the jocks, the popular guys, or even the geeks. Since Leo’s mom has to work in the morning she quickly rushed Leo into the car and dropped him off to school.
Right before school ended Leo got a notification on his phone. Leo read the message and frowned. His mom had notified him on his phone that she had to work until 11 PM and that there are leftovers in the fridge. Leo’s mom then added that he had to walk home. Leo sulked in his depression. His house was 2 miles from his house. Leo sighed and packed up his things. When Leo reached outside, his two friends Joe and Rita greeted him the loudest they could. Leo quickly ducked down and forced his friends down with him. His friends asked, “Leo, what's wrong, are we under attack?” Leo quickly whispered, “Listen just because we haven’t seen each other in a while doesn’t mean you need to end my reputation. Joe replies, “What reputation?” Rita snorts and the pair laugh extremely loudly and obnoxiously. Leo quickly sneered and replied, “Listen I need to get home. My mom is working late and I need to get home early so I can finish my homework and prepare supper.” Rita replies, “Well look who is a goodie two shoes.” Leo sighs and walks out the front door. Joe asks Rita, “Wonder what's up with him?” Rita shrugs and replies, “I dunno.”
Halfway through Leo’s walk home it started to drizzle, then rain, then thunder. Leo groaned and thought, “Great a thunderstorm.” Leo desperately looked for his umbrella. Except he didn’t realize it was at his house, hanging from his coat rack. Leo quickly ran for shelter from the thunderstorm, but slipped in the process. Leo fell and hit his head on the ground. Instantly pain rose from his skull to his brain. Leo fell limp to the floor and closed his eyes.
