I reprocessed my image data of NGC2264, which includes NGC2261. I was never happy with the earlier image. The colors were muted and the image had an overall hazy appearance. I also had many noisy pixels that mad it through the processing. I processed the original image data again, using a better workflow and I am much happier with the result. Although, now I seem some other imaging artifacts, so don't look at it too closely
NGC2264 the Cone Nebula and Christmas Tree Cluster, with NGC2261 Hubble’s Variable Nebula is visible to the south west (lower right) of the image, taken on Jan 19, 24 and Feb 12, 2018 from Buford Mountain Conservation Area, Missouri. It was imaged with a Stellarvue SV80ST with SFFR-6 focal reducer for a focal length of 384 mm, a QSI 683wsg-8 camera at -10C, all mounted on a Celestron Advanced VX mount with off-axis guiding. The total exposure time was 8 hours 20 minutes.
