I imaged galaxies on the night of April 8 to April 9 at Whiteside Conservation area. The wind was strong and gusty until 1:00 am, but the transparency was exceptionally good.
NGC2903m with faint galaxy NGC2816 imaged through a 150 mm aperture F/5 Newtonian telescope with coma corrector and UHC filter with a Nikon D5200 full spectrum and baffled camera. Mounted on a Celestron Advanced VX mount and autoguided. Total exposure of 90 minutes with 9 light, 9 dark, 10 bias and 10 flats at ISO-400. Camera controlled with BackyardNIKON, images stacked in DeepSkyStaker and processing in Photoshop.
NGC5457 M101, the Pinwheel, with NGC5464 imaged through a 150 mm aperture F/5 Newtonian telescope with coma corrector and UHC filter with a Nikon D5200 full spectrum and baffled camera. Mounted on a Celestron Advanced VX mount and autoguided. Total exposure of 120 minutes with 12 light, 9 dark, 10 bias and 10 flats at ISO-400. Camera controlled with BackyardNIKON, images stacked in DeepSkyStaker and processing in Photoshop.
M101 and NGC5464 gravitationally interacted, which is why the two galaxies are asymmetrical.
