Format: 12 player round robin (11 rounds)

Eligibility: Automatically qualifying for places are IM James Morris (2012 Champion) & Ari Dale (2012 Reserves winner). Other players selected on March ACF ratings.

Rate of play: All moves in 90 minutes + 30 seconds per move increment from move 1

Ratings: Event will be rated on ACF & FIDE rating lists

Forfeit time: 30 minutes after scheduled start time

Entry Fees: $75 full; $50 concession; GMs, IMs, WGMs & WIMs free;

Entries for Championship close on April 20. Final field will be announced by May 1.

Prizes: 1st $1500 + gold medal; 2nd $750 + silver medal; 3rd $375 + Bronze medal; 4th $200;

Playoff: In case of two players sharing first place a play-off match for the State title will be arranged. The playoff will be over two games with Championship time control and in case of a tie two rapid games, if still tied two blitz games and if still tied an Armageddon game. In case of 3 or more players tying for first place a round -robin tournament for the title will be arranged. In case of equal scores Berger tie-break (based on the Championship results) will be used.

Postponements: A maximum of one postponement is allowed per player during the event, unless exceptional circumstances apply.

Round 2 - Noble Park CC – Saturday May 18 starting at 3:00pm

Round 3 - Melbourne CC – Thursday May 23 starting at 7:30pm

Round 4 - Noble Park CC – Saturday May 25 starting at 3:00pm

Round 5 – Melbourne CC – Thursday May 30 starting at 7:30pm

Round 6 - Noble Park CC – Saturday June 1 starting at 3:00pm

Round 7 – Box Hill CC – Tuesday June 4 starting at 7:30pm

Round 8 – Melbourne CC – Thursday June 13 starting at 7:30pm

Round 9 – Box Hill CC – Tuesday June 18 starting at 7:30pm

Round 10 – Melbourne CC – Thursday June 20 starting at 7:30pm

Round 11 – Box Hill CC – Tuesday June 25 starting at 7:30pm
