2015 Super GM Ni Hua Simultaneous Chess

Post date: Jan 15, 2015 7:58:23 PM

On Thursday 15 January 2015, Super GM Ni Hua took on 28 players in a simultaneous chess exhibition in the multi-purpose room, 1888 building of the University of Melbourne. Only 5 players managed to draw against him. Congratulations to Mitko Aleksandrov, Ray Yang, FM Luke Li, Lillian Lu and Bill Jiang.

He nominated his game against Bill Jiang as the best for the simul and briefly analysed the game for the audience.

Special mention must be made of FM Luke Li. When GM Ni Hua made a draw offer to Luke, the latter had a think while the former made his round against the other players. When GM Ni Hua came around to Luke again, Luke declined the offer and made a move. GM Ni Hua applauded Luke's decision. He must have seen in Luke the fighting spirit he himself showed during the 2015 Australian Open whereby he went on to win the tournament comfortably.

Super GM Ni Hua recently won the 2015 Australian Open in Castle Hill RSL with an incredible score of 10.5 out of 11 points, winning by 2.5 points, which is seldom seen in modern-day tournaments. He had a performance rating of 2859, gaining 15 ELO rating points and bringing his FIDE rating to 2704.
