Darryl won very strong and prestigious Melbourne Chess Club Championship 2011.

CV player of the month of July is Victorian 2010 Champion FIDE MasterDusan Stojic.

In July he won a very entertaining play-off match for the 2010 State title against FIDE Master Chris Wallis.

Dusan is a very popular and like able personality in Australian chess circles

August 2011----Victorian player of the month award goes to International Master Mirko Rujevic for his convincing win Oceania Senior Championship 2011 being hosted by BHCC.

Mirko is getting stronger with age! Not to many people now that Mirko was one of the best soccer players in our state a while ago. Without any doubts useful soccer skills such as making quick decision helps him through out his chess career!

September 2011 Victorian player of the month award goes to FIDE Master Bobby Cheng.

His achievements so far are well documented. Recently Bobby has created history once again becoming the youngest Victorian Champion. He is only 14

In one of the strongest State Championship in recent years Cheng came first with 13-times Victorian Champion International Grandmaster Darryl Johansen second

November 2011 The Deepdene primary school chess team has been selected chess players of the month for winning the Australian schools open division for the second year running.

December 2011 award goes to International Master James Morris. Australasian Masters 2011 winner plus Victorian Masters 2011 title holder. James showed his high class comprehensively winning Australasian Masters 2011 with Grandmaster performance of 2545 conceding only 3 draws. We wish James the best of luck for the summer chess circle events and beyond!
