IF THE EXODUS OUT OF THE VA HAD HAPPENED TO BUY REAL HEALTH INSURANCE FOR DISABLED VETERANS AND THEIR LOVED ONES THE VA WOULD HAVE BEEN ONLY SERVING THE UNEMPLOYED AND POVERTY VETERANS. THE VA WOULD HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO COLLECT HEALTH INSURANCE REIMBURSEMENT FOR NON VA MEDICAL PROBLEMS FROM OUTSIDE HEALTH INSURED VETERANS IN THE SYSTEM NOW.
Retired Vets (TRICARE), 100% disabled Vets ChampVA, Vets on Medicare and Medicaid and vets with employer insurance can all use the VA. All other disabled vets and non-disabled vets can not use the VA if they want high deductible health insurance for their families and themselves through the Affordable Act.
After researching this subject of veterans having to dis-enroll from the VA care system in order to purchase family coverage for themselves and their families on the Obama Care website it has become increasingly obvious that this was a planned deception by the VA and government in order to keep partially disabled and non-disabled category 7-8 veterans locked into the VA.
Here are the undeniable facts I have uncovered.
The Obama market place website has a box next to the question: Are you enrolled in the VA system? If you answer yes, you continue the application process and at the end are told a price for a spouse and you the partially disabled veteran. This is an outrageous price of $1260.00/mo for a $3,000/yr deductable for each person. This is not affordable health insurance for two sixty year old people.
The deception of not explaining the consequences of checking the VA box is either the greatest software screw up yet or it is a master deception to get unsuspecting veterans already enrolled in the VA system to buy health insurance through Obama Care and not get the subsidy or reduced premiums for their family and themselves. This deception, if the veteran follows through with the health insurance purchase is helping fund non-veterans insurance through the Obama Care market place. Which is it? The later is disgraceful. The website needs to be more transparent so the questions asked during the process are shown without having to create an account. This inability to check to see if the software writers are updating their mistakes and deceptions is disgraceful.
Lynne Harbin from the VA in Atlanta Georgia made the comment to me that the website was designed that way. She did not say why the question asking if you are enrolled in the VA was not explained or what the consequences were if checked. The consequences are that no subsidy or discount will be given if you checked the box. Although, Lynne has forwarded my suggestion to explain the consequences to whoever is in charge of the software We shall see if anyone changes it changes in the future. I have my doubts. It again would appear the VA and Obama Care rigged it so vets would end up paying for others health insurance by overpaying for their own!
The online Obama website help personnel that answer the online text questions have been trained to text you that the VA is your best affordable health option. The Obama website expects veterans to answer truthfully and not be shown what they could save by dis-enrolling from the VA. In other words, the government predetermined the outcome.
If you (the disabled veteran) were gullible enough to buy health insurance through the Obama website with out disenrolling from the VA you helped fund the health insurance for others.
The only way you and your spouse get the real costs of Obama Care high deductable insurance is to lie and say you are not in the VA system during the application process. At the end of the application process the software will cross check the VA system and find you are enrolled and ask you to dis-enroll. You have to lie. If the government and VA did not design it this way to be deceptive then they really have some poor software writers.
