Read the following:
"Nitrosamines, one of the most important environmental carcinogen, has been suggested to cause the generation of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) resulting in oxidative stress, alter the antioxidant defense system in tissues and cellular injury, which may be one of the factors in the etiology of cancer(Bansal et al., 2005; Mittal et al., 2006)."
However, excessive ROS accumulation will lead to cellular injury, such as damage to DNA, protein and lipid membrane. Because of their potential harmful effects, excessive ROS must be promptly eliminated from the cells by a variety of antioxidant enzymes which includes Superoxide Dismutase (SOD)
Increased SOD activity levels are seen in Down’s syndrome while decreased activity is seen in diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis, Parkinson’s disease, uremic anemia, atherosclerosis, some cancers and thyroid dysfunction (Giacco and Brownlee, 2010)
There are some references out on the internet connecting Parkinson’s with formaldehyde. There are some medical studies which refute that. Most links are with exposure to pesticides. Supposedly, the Titan sites were sprayed with Agent Orange for weed control but no concrete evidence has been found. However, there is documentation that Agent orange was used at the minuteman sites up to 1977. Monkey see monkey do!

3.6. Pesticides and Herbicides According to interviews with F.E. Warren AFB personnel, during active operation of the LF, the Subject Property was kept sterile via the use of common pesticides and herbicides. Pesticides have been used to control various pests (e.g., bees, ants, spiders, flies, and mice). Herbicides were used to eliminate grass and weeds (e.g., crab grasses, dandelions, and poison ivy). Following the end of the Vietnam War in 1975, Agent Orange broadleaf control was used as an herbicide for approximately 2 years.
After Final Phase I Environmental Baseline Survey in Support of Eliminating Launch Facilities, F.E. Warren AFB, Wyoming March 2015 3-8 Launch Facility S-9 approximately 1977, F.E. Warren AFB used Krovar® or Bromacil, a soil sterilant, and Roundup™ broadleaf control for weed management. These herbicides were used on an “as-needed” basis and were not stored on the Subject Property. According to F.E. Warren AFB personnel, the Subject Property has not been sprayed with herbicides or pesticides since it was deactivated in 2004. Since 2004, weeds and grass have been mechanically controlled with occasional mowing.
