Health Survey (revised) questions are located on the left under Health survey section. If you have changes that you would like updated please copy and past the new questions into an email with answers. Email to: TITANII@NEW.RR.COM
The survey results posted here are from Enlisted and Officers. There is no division line between Officers and enlisted anymore due to the DM Titan Complex Study showing the LCC's were positive for UDMH. Health Surveys have slowed to a trickle. The Missileers Association did post a link in their newsletter.
Survey results will be updated when someone adds new information or when someone new sends me a filled in questionnaire. Please try to be specific as to your ailment.
If you decide to ask the VA for help in this matter be advised that I have taken this matter to the Veterans Board of Appeals (VBA) in Washington DC. The VA will require full documentation that your illness is caused by exposure to the fuels by a Physician or by a Toxicologist. A Toxicologist will cost about $25,000 to $30,000 to do a causation analysis report. Most physicians lack the expertise in linking chemical exposure to ailments. The VBA will acknowledge that you were exposed to the fuels and that is all they will admit. The burden of proof that your ailment is due to fuel exposure is your responsibility. See additional comments on the VA WRIISC department.
There has been one successful ex-Titan MFT that has received compensation for Bladder cancer related to the Titan II fuels. Under the section "Recent News" I will try to explain how he approached the VA in his case.
Note:
People have asked the relationship of foot pain and Titan fuels. I have found no medical relationship. There are very few published studies on human exposure and the fuels.
It is interesting that the PTS survivor of the LRAFB has Osteoporosis. He claims no family history of this. There is a link between Osteoporosis and foot pain. Unless one has had a bone density test you would not know. UPDATE: I have had a bone density test (2012) confirming I have Osteopenia which is the onset of osteoporosis. I will have to take calcium for the rest of my life.
Some have asked: How long before I see any health effects from the fuel? The fuels were Mutagenic. Please refer to the medical ailments section for a link to this subject. Here is a small part:
The incidence of cancer caused by chemicals is dose-related. The greater the dose, the greater the incidence. The length of time it takes for a cancer to develop after exposure (the induction period) is inversely related to dose. The greater the dose, the shorter the time or the smaller the dose, the longer the time. If the exposure is so small as to increase the induction period to 200 years, of what practical significance would that be to people whose average life span is less than 100 years? If the dose is so small that the incidence is decreased to one in a trillion, it is of no practical significance to us (because there aren’t a trillion of us on earth.)
In the future if you have annual blood tests ask for a Antinuclear Antibodies test. In the ATSDR manual for the immunological effects of UDMH a human subject in a lab was exposed to UDMH and she had a positive ANA test. Look in the "MEDICAL AILMENTS IN HUMANS" section for the article. It is referenced in paragraph 2.2.3.3.
