February 19, 2020, The Holy Spirit in Me
I had an insightful vision this morning. Perhaps I was just day-dreaming, but it felt like it came from God's spirit. In my mind, I was being confronted by an accuser among believers. The accuser appeared to be super-spiritual and the believers in our presence were in awe of her. She asked me, "Are you on fire for Christ? Where's your excitement? Where's your flame?" I felt attacked by her questioning. She was accusing me of lacking in the Holy Spirit.
I hesitated, asking myself and quietly praying, "Am I lacking? Are you with me, Holy Spirit?" Then the answer came, flowing from my heart, spilling out my mouth. I responded to my accuser in the presence of many believers who knew me, "The Holy Spirit in me is no flash-fire. I'm consumed by long-lasting, steady-burning coals that have persevered many years and will never be extinguished. The Spirit in me is faithful, trustworthy, and true. My fruit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, godliness, and self-control. Enthusiastic flash-fires are like seeds in the rocks that may seem impressive for a time, but they quickly burn out. The Holy Spirit in me is there for eternity and my fire will never burn out."
My response silenced the accuser and encouraged the believers who heard it. Then the vision ended.
