Water Water Everywhere

This morning's TV was all over the weather and the expected heavy storms that were predicted to sweep over the whole of Florida today. The main issue was that the central part of Florida was on tornado watch until around midday.

Trouble is, we had our Segway trip planned today.

So we drove over to Fort Wilderness, caught the bus up to the main hall - all in the pouring rain - and were the first to arrive in a large open sided barn-like building. Here, we met up with 8 other people all expecting to do the wilderness trip with us. This trip should take us out to one of the trails on the segways with the big chunky off-road tyres.

Sadly, the two guys taking us just had to look out to the west to see the black sky fast approaching. The main part of the rain hit us shortly after we'd arrived.

In the end, we did the training, then went for a short 5 minute ride around the nearby complex. Some of it was off-road, but it was mainly on the pathways. It was, however, raining like it there was no tomorrow. We had temporary ponchos to cover us as much as possible, but we both ended up with soaked shorts and shoes.

We trekked back to the car, picked up a coffee and returned to the villa to let the worst of the weather pass. Linda immediately threw our clothes into the dryer!

By 3pm, the sun was out again but the temperature had dropped somewhat.

It's Cold Indoors

We went back out a short time later to see the ICE show over at the Gaylord Palms hotel. We've been there before but this time it was extremely cold inside. Although you are wearing thick parkas, they have no pockets and therefore by the time you've done, your hands are frozen. Spectacular show though.

La Nouba

Our final stop of the day was over in Downtown Disney. We ate at the Rainforest Cafe, sitting right next to one of the big tropical aquariums. The meal was quite nice, although we couldn't finish due to the size of the desserts!

Afterwards, we had tickets for the Cirque du Soleil show La Nouba. We've seen one of these shows before (in Las Vegas) but this one wasn't so much a story, more a collection of some amazing acrobatics, slapstick and comedy. By the time we left, it was almost 11pm, however, we needed to stop off at a shop to grab some supplies as we're running low on milk.

We got back to the Villa to find a note from one of the guys at Fairways, the maintenance company, the pool is apparently fixed!
