Long has the legend of King Fundar Goldentooth been told in the far Red Mountains to the east. And for as long as Kegrin Plumehelm could remember has he been searching for the legendary lost gold of this Stonefoot King. Plumehelm, a Stonefoot by lineage himself, grew up with such tales and it seems they never left him. Endangering his own life and that of his servant, and against the advice of both Longbeard and Stonefoot Lords, Plumehelm has ventured deep into the ruins of the Goblin infested Moria, in search for the legendary Golden Tablet of the Stonefoot King.

For, as record notes, King Fundar Goldentooth offered a Golden Tablet to Durin II of the Longbeards, then still a prince, during the sixth century of the second age. Nothing out of the ordinary one would say, royalty hands each other expensive gifts all the time. Yet this golden tablet was extraordinary in both form, weight and substance. Forged in the Naraggund, the Stonefoot capital, it was a massive block with the weight of four grown dwarves, of the purest of Orocarni gold, infused with mithril. The very same mithril the Longbeards had given to the father of King Fundar, Fulla III, a generation earlier. It was a token of ever lasting friendship between the clans.

Now, nearly six thousand years after these events, Kegrin has done what none deemed possible. As words have reached us from the darks of Moria of the old adventurer, claiming the long lost tablet has been recovered in what once may have been the vaults of Durin himself. Though celebrations have erupted at this news in the Stonefoot capital, the Longbeards seem rather upset by the whole affair. A spokes-dwarf of the court of King Dáin had this to say on the matter: "Though we had deemed it a foolish errand and had advised against this dangerous venture, the Stonefoot by the name of Kegrin Plumeheld has proceeded with it, not taking heed of the advice of the Longbeard King. Though it gladdens us to hear he still lives, we are troubled by the apparent Stonefoot claim on the tablet. If indeed the tablet has been found, it must be returned to the Line of Durin and under no condition should it be taken from the West". What was once a token of everlasting friendship seems now to be the root of a divide between the two clans.

It is unclear if master Kegrin has joined the company of master Balin, who some believe may still be in Moria too. Or if he has already begun the dangerous trek back to his camp in the Misty Mountains.

When the Tablets of Khazadgund asked a local historian of the riches still to be found in Khazad-dûm he chuckled and said: "Riches to be found in the deeps? No. The Orcs have often plundered Moria; there is nothing left in the upper halls. And since the dwarves fled, no one dares to seek the shafts and treasuries down in the deep places: they are drowned in water--or in a shadow of fear."

It seems now that there are still a few who dare to seek the deep places of the world.
