All we hear these days is that war is coming. "If you don't have an axe in hand than bar your mansion home and seek shelter", is often the advice given by guards in the homesteads. Yet this reporter has seldom seen as much courage as that which is on display these days in many of our halls. One such story is of the Firebeard Vuri Ironchest, son of Vur. Famed for his adventures as a young lad, in one of which he took on two trolls, Vuri had become a husband and father of four at a later age. Hearing of the riches to be found in Moria he signed up with a company to seek mithril near the Dolven View. Against the advice of the company leader Vuri had brought along his family to live with him. One day, to his horror, his youngest - by the name of Vurin - had gone missing. A raven scout had spotted the lad on the skirts of Barazinbar (Redhorn in the common tongue).
Vuri could not wait for the guards to assemble and went in search of his son. As the night came, the guards had begun their search, no sign of the boy or Vuri could be seen. After two days had passed young Vurin was found hiding in a cave. The guardmaster commented that the boy was playing when he got lost and had followed a little cave-claw up the mountainside. He was hungry and scared, but alright. His father Vuri was not that lucky however, as the brave Firebeard was found dead on the upper slopes of Barazinbar. The terrible mountain yet again showing how cruel it can be.
