--by Rumi Longnose, Caravan-Master of the Southern White Caravan--
Last moon, a caravan of dwarves, lead by myself, coming from the dwarf Hall of Zigil-Jabâl (in the White Mountains South-West of the lands of Rohan) came across two wains that were heavily damaged, yet for the most part unspoiled.
Next to the wains we found four men with Rohirrim markings, all cruelly slain by what seemed Orc scimitars.
It seems a pack of orcs had attacked the men but left the wains largely untouched.
I quickly noticed that the wains not only contained valuable furniture, but important looking documents bearing Rohirrim symbols.
Seeing that Edoras was a short detour for us, and I believed the documents might be of value for the skirmishes against the orcs,
we decided to add the wains to our caravan and see to return the goods to the Rohirrim. Surely the Horse-Lords would be glad to see such documents and valuable belongings return, at a small compensation among friendly kins.
To our surprise we were met with anger and sharp spears when we were greeted at the gates of Edoras.
Tired after this detour that seemed longer than originally thought, we demanded a meal for ten, two kegs of ale and two gold coins, merely as a compensation for our troubles of course.
Yet the Rohirrim took offense at this and took the wains by force, turning us away like beggars!
The traders and scouts of our caravan took back to the road, hungry, tired and furious.
Not only must the caravans scouts mind the usual orcs, it now seems the men of Rohan, who oft had little love for our kind; now take us for enemies. Is this how free folk repay each other!
I say caravan masters beware of the Rohirrim, for like in the days of their ancestor Fram, they are not to be trusted!
