Word has reached this stout reporter of an encounter with a long-lost house of dwarves in Mordor!

"Nonsense!" I hear you say, but yet it is so, the house known as the Stout-axe dwarves of Mordor is no Dwarf-kingdom of old, and yet there are not so few as to be forgotten in those ash-filled lands. "For even Sauron could not forget us!", one of their generals added with a grin in a most peculiar accent.

Dwarvish historians are convinced these may be the descendants of those of many clans that sided with Sauron during the Battle of the Last Alliance, yet of that, we can now not be sure.

Several companies have attempted to establish peace with this long-lost House, free of Sauron's influence. Gimli, son of Glóin, who was present at one of these negotiations, added later: "There is so much to be learned from them -- so much to be learned for the dwarves! Even if they toiled under the Dark Lord, I'd wager they're still a better lot than the Dourhands."

Yet, any alliance was not to be, as due to reasons best left discovered by adventurers, all were forced to return to their path of old and leave the Stout-axes to their ways. Some blamed poor leadership on the part of the Stout-axes, others whispered the name of one called Mistress Zôreth.

Whatever the truth may be, one can't help but wonder if one day Stout-axes will welcome dwarves of the seven clans to visit their home in Lûghash and together we'll raise their tankards to a better tomorrow!
