Last 6-month Countdown up to January 31, 2019

August 1, 2018

The first priority in the 6-month countdown on staying alive and living to the fullest up to January 31, 2019 when I will be 70 years old is TO TRY MY UTMOST BEST NOT TO GET SICK WITH A FATAL DISEASE AND NOT TO DIE OF A FATAL ACCIDENT.

The definite action plans on how to control the preventable factors for disease and death in order to stay alive up to 70 years old essentially consist of the following (to continue and refine my existing plans which I formulated in 2011):

  • Avoid accidents.

  • Avoid stroke as I have the genetic predisposition.

  • Not to commit suicide.

  • Control whatever diseases that I may have so as not to cause or promote death.

  • Avoid stress (Stress Management Strategies).

  • Live a healthy lifestyle.

See “HOW I WAS ABLE TO LIVE UP TO 70 YEARS” Write-up for details. To continue to do as written.

The definite action plans on how to live to fullest up to 70 years old essentially consist of the following:

    • Continue to refine my intentional or purposeful life plan which I formulated in 1995 and reinforced in 2011.

    • Know specifically what I still have to do up to January 31, 2019 (particularly asking the question: if I were to die 6 months from now, what will I do).

    • Continue to refine my end-points of contentment as these facilitate and contribute to happiness.

    • Continue to refine my operational definitions of enjoyment as these contribute to happiness.

    • Avoid and manage stress (Stress Management Strategies) as these contribute to enjoyment and happiness.

    • Formulate a program of activities to achieve contentment, enjoyment and happiness.

    • Prepare for the following situations: a) instant death; b) hospital confinement; c) home confinement.

    • Monitor, evaluate and review implementation of program of activities.

The target: on the last day and last second of my life on earth, I am ready to go, knowing at least that I have lived my life to the fullest.

A good way to prepare for my graduation day on January 31, 2018 (6 months to go from August 1, 2018 to January 31, 2019) is to ask the question or to pose the scenario of a patient about to die in 6 months time: IF I WERE TO DIE IN 6 MONTHS TIME, WHAT WILL I DO TO PREPARE FOR THE LAST DAY ON EARTH?

ONCE YOU LEARN HOW TO DIE, YOU LEARN HOW TO LIVE!

END-POINTS OF CONTENTMENT FOR THE LAST 6 MONTHS

Establishing end-points of contentment

One must have an intentional or purposeful living life plan with end-points of contentment!

To be happy!

To enjoy life!

This is exactly what I am going to do for the next 6 months until my graduation day! I already have an intentional or purposeful living life plan as early as 1995. I have been doing annual evaluation and review and continual refinements. I am going to do another review and continual refinements for the next 6 months until my graduation day on January 31, 2019.

My action plans in the 6-month countdown:

– Continue to refine my end-points of contentment as these facilitate and contribute to happiness. (I have to spell these out with performance indicators and timelines.)

– Continue to refine my operational definitions of enjoyment as these contribute to happiness. (I have to spell these out with performance indicators and timelines.)

Enjoyment Monitoring

Performance Indicators:

Sensual pleasure – daily (eating, watching particularly movies, reading, smelling, hearing particularly music, etc. – once in a day – any of those mentioned), for the next 6 months (or 182 times)

Ego pleasure – at least once a week (derived from feedback) for the next 6 months (or 24 times)

Accomplishment pleasure – at least 90% of the formal projects that I plan to do and accomplish for the next 6 months

Appreciation pleasure – at least once a week (appreciating the beauty of nature, goodness of people, etc.), for the next 6 months (or 24 times)

Enjoyment and Stress Management

Enjoyment includes stress management.

Here is my stress management strategies for the last 6 months:

AVOID STRESS TO HAVE A PEACE OF MIND! TO HAVE A PEACEFUL AND RESTFUL SLEEP!

AVOID

    • STRESSFUL OPERATIONS!

    • STRESSFUL PATIENTS!

    • STRESSFUL LECTURES!

    • STRESSFUL PEOPLE!

    • STRESSFUL EVENTS!

BE CONTENTED!

REMIND MYSELF

  • YOU CAN ONLY DO SO MUCH!

  • NO MORE RAT RACE!

  • YOU HAVE TO SLOW DOWN!

  • YOU HAVE TO ENJOY THE REMAINING DAYS AND MONTHS OF YOUR EARTHLY LIFE!

MANAGE STRESS WHEN IT UNAVOIDABLY OCCURS / COMES!

  • RESOLVE AS BEST AS I CAN!

  • MOTTO: IT WILL COME TO PASS!

A profile I want for ROJoson (18jun29):

  • Happy, contented, and enjoying life!

  • Still productive!

One of the items that I wrote in my ROJoson’s 6-month intentional living life plan – August 1, 2018 to January 31, 2019 is Project Surgeon Endorsement Program. I said that it is one of the remaining project that I have to do before my graduation day or before I die on January 31, 2019.

I was forced to include this Project Surgeon Endorsement Program because of what my patronizing and loyal patients would always say to me: ” what will happen to us when you die, when you are disabled, when you retire; who will take care of us; you are different from the other doctors you may endorse to us; we prefer you; we have gotten use to your style of treating us; don’t leave us; etc.”

In 2015, I wrote ROJoson Discipleship and Mentoring Program (https://rojoson.wordpress.com/2015/07/06/rojoson-discipleship-and-mentorship-program). This was triggered by the same reasons mentioned above from my patients.

“I cannot stay in this world forever. Someday, I will have to leave this world, when, I do not know. Thus, in response to the pleadings of my patronizing and loyal patients, I decided I should develop “disciples” on my brand or style of a physician – disciple physicians who will take care of them after I die or become disabled.”

I have not started accomplishing the ROJoson Discipleship and Mentoring Program and 6 months is not enough to accomplish it.

Thus, I decided on Project Surgeon Endorsement Program. I feel I owe it to my patients.

In this Project Surgeon Endorsement Program, I will identify general surgeons who can approximate my brand or style of a general surgeon. Then, I will endorse them to my patients. I will put up a list and endorse it to my secretary.

I will look for general surgeons who have the following traits:

    1. A mindset that uses my “Management of a Patient Process”

    2. Holistic, Professional and Compassionate Surgeons

    3. Surgeons with the following qualities when they operate in the operating room (of course, with good outcome and adequate anesthesia):

        • Finesse

        • Speed without too many unnecessary moves

        • Decisiveness

        • Cost-effectiveness

    4. Surgeons with the following qualities when do procedures when the patients are awake (again, of course, with good outcome and adequate pain control):

        • Gentleness (magaan ang kamay)

        • Speed (mabilis)

        • Decisiveness

        • Cost-effectiveness

NOTE: I will review the curriculum that I made before and include the other criteria and indicators to search for surgeons whom I will endorse to my patients.
