Sautéed Asparagus

2 bunches asparagus                     1 tsp minced garlic

butter

 Trim asparagus (holding asparagus by both ends, bend gently until it snaps.  Throw away stem end.  Melt butter in a skillet and add garlic and asparagus spears.  Saute asparagus in butter until bright green and crisp tender, approximately 4-5 minutes.  Season with salt and pepper to taste.
