Boar's Head Bread Pudding

3 large eggs 1 Tbsp vanilla

1 cup sugar 7 slices Texas Toast (14 slices sandwich bread)

1/2 cup brown sugar 6 ounces melted butter

3 cups milk cinnamon, for garnish, if desired

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.  Cream eggs and sugar together.  Add milk and vanilla and mix well.  Add bread.  Let bread soak in liquid mixture until very soft and the liquid is mostly absorbed.  Press until all bread is soaked in the liquid mixture.  Add butter and mix well.

2.  Pour into well-oiled 9 x 13 x 2 baking pan.  Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour.  Mixture will rise like a souffle.  When golden brown, remove from oven and let rest for 15 minutes before serving.

Vanilla Sauce

1/2 cup real butter 1/2 cup whipping cream

1/2 cup sugar 1 tsp vanilla

1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar

Combine all sauce ingredients except vanilla in 2-quart saucepan.  Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until mixture thickens and comes to a full boil (5-8 minutes.)  Stir in vanilla.
