Ram V Chary notes that people who put much effort into their work are sometimes surprised to receive little recognition, which is unfortunate. If you're frustrated because you're working hard and feel like you're not getting anywhere, then the lack of recognition could be a problem. It is why arguably one of the most important things any good business leader should do is recognize their employee's efforts.
Even if somebody doesn't accomplish everything they set out to do, simply working hard should be noticed and recognized by their superiors, the people who manage them, and the company itself. If a person or employee is willing to work harder than they must, they deserve the attention. Even if their work isn't perfect, Ram V Chary says that much effort usually means that they will improve over time.
While there's never any guarantee of what might happen in the future, working hard makes it more likely to achieve goals. Meanwhile, without this extra effort, they'll probably end up languishing in less important tasks and never be noticed by anybody about how good they could be.
The importance of recognizing hard work cannot be overstated. Business leaders who fail to acknowledge and appreciate the efforts of their employees risk demotivating them and dampening their spirits. Workers' feeling undervalued and unappreciated can impact their productivity and willingness to go the extra mile. In contrast, when leaders recognize accomplishments and offer sincere praise, it can tremendously boost morale and motivation. Employees who feel valued and appreciated are likelier to work hard and continue striving for success. Recognizing and rewarding hard work is key to creating a positive work culture and achieving sustained success.
If somebody is doing their best, then it means that they're willing to learn new skills and get better at what they're doing. And this could very well lead to better things for the company, Ram V Chary adds.
How do you recognize the efforts of your employees? How has it benefitted your company?
