Leukemia is the general term that is used to refer to any of four different types of cancer relating to the blood.
The disease has ill effects on the bone marrow, the one responsible for the body’s production of blood cells. If any of the blood cells produced has irregularities, they do not function properly in terms of the delivery of nutrients or the production of disease fighting elements.
The disease does not instantly kill. Hundreds of thousands contract the disease and live with it. It is not a hopeless case, as there is also such a thing as remission from leukemia.
