One spring day The Sun was shining down upon the earth. A gentle breeze from the North was blowing, the birds were singing, and the late March flowers were already in bloom. A young man was casually walking along a winding meadow path in positive prayer, for he had been recently baptized at his local church a few days ago. As The Sun was shining, the chilly morning air required this young lad to wear a cloak and a cap. The Northwind blustered a bit and looked upon the young man and frowned with disdain. The Sun, knowing all thoughts said, “Why do you look down upon this young man with so much scorn?” The Northwind blustered again, “This silly human doesn’t have the knowledge, wisdom, or spiritual understanding to know how to walk worthy in the Lord. What makes him so contented within his heart, of love, faith, peace, and the free gift of grace?” The Sun smiled with a burst of warmth and said, “Leave him be Northwind, leave him be, he is a new creation in Christ, he’ll do just fine along the path he is following.” The Northwind blustered a bit more and took the challenge, “ A new creation you say Sun? Well, I can make this young lad’s cloak blow right off of him within seconds making him vulnerable and alone!” The Sun said nothing in response to the Northwinds threat; He just continued to shine brightly. With the Sun’s silence the Northwind took a deep breath and with cold air, sharply blew with all his might, aiming his mighty blasts at the young man. Well, when that happened the young man bent his head, leaned into the mighty Northern wind and held on tightly to his cloak as their ends flapped violently behind him. With each repeated assault the young man held on to his cloak even tighter. Exhausted, the North- wind stopped blowing and the young man loosened his grip, but not knowing what to expect again from the Northwind, was ready to hold fast to his cloak in anticipation of another attack. All of this intensive onslaught caused the Sun to beam down upon the young man with deepening love. The Northwind said with disgust and defeat, “So, You think You can do better Sun?” The Sun didn’t reply but just shined warmly upon this young man. Gradually, ever so gently, the Sun intensified His beams of Living Light. As the young man walked with the Lord, that early spring morning gradually increased in its warmth, and ever so slowly the young man became extremely warm and took off his cap and his cloak. The Northwind in disbelief and frustration gusted away to the East and blew over a grain silo twenty miles away.
