I was sweeping out the back of my truck. I had just unloaded some sand in my daughter’s backyard for my granddaughter to play in. I was using a metal long-handled broom and the sand that I was sweeping out was thick in some piles. I didn’t think anything about it and continued to force the thick piles out of the truck and out into the street to be picked up with a dustpan. All of a sudden, the broom handle snapped and the edge cut into my ring finger. Immediately and profusely it started to bleed. Applying pressure with my right fingers I made my way to my daughters’ kitchen and sat down with prayers over and over. Every five minutes for about an hour I released the pressure slowly for a few seconds. I was scared because of the amount of blood. I asked my daughter for two band-aids which stopped her unknown verbal tirade against me. I kept quiet during the whole assault and I very calmly asked twice for the band-aids. She brought me an unopened box which I had to get what I needed for myself. I was scared, very scared to look at my wound. When I finally looked the bleeding had stopped and I snugly put on two band-aids. With relief, I stood up and finished the sweeping with another metal handle broom very carefully and awkwardly. It took a week for me to clean the wound properly and to this very day, I am able to see a very thin white scar that runs horizontally on my finger. Thank you, Jesus, Amen:)
