Profound Statements from a Roman Gentile

{Gentile is anyone, not a Jew}

{My thoughts on these scripture readings is that Pilate was a Roman Jew. But of course, in secret. Like many others in The Gospels, he did not practice openly. True, he needed to be aware of each spectrum of all the peoples he governed over. He was self-taught. Many of the Jews read this sign on the cross above the head of Jesus, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and the sign was written in Aramaic, Latin, and Greek. The chief priests of the Jews protested to Pilate, “Do not write “The King of the Jews,” but that this man claimed to be the king of the Jews.” Pilate answered, “What I have written, I have written.”

Matthew 27:25 All the people answered, “His blood is on us and on our children!”

Luke 23:34 Jesus said, {upon the cross} “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” Referring to the soldiers casting lots for his clothes and for all the Jews who wanted him dead. Jew and Gentile were forgiven of their part in Jesus’ death. We all are forgiven by God through the love of Jesus Christ.
