Thurifer
Ritual notes: The Thurifer at Solemn mass
The server in charge of the thurible. His duties include carrying the thurible in procession, keeping the coals in the thurible hot, presenting the thurible to the Deacon for the addition of incense, censing the acolyte and the people, and censing the altar at the Consecration during the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
Thurifers are used at all solemn high masses, including the regular 11:15am Sunday mass and the high mass on Holy Days.
A second thurifer is added for Eucharistic processions.
