Alms basin

Also known as: Collection plate, Offering plate

The brass basins or plates used by the ushers to collect alms or offerings at the offertory.

The alms basins are typically kept on a small side table, next to the door to the sacristy.

The alms basins are taken to the ushers by the two extra servers (mitre and crozier bearers) or by the torch bearers, at the Offertory. The alms basins are retrieved after the collection by the Gospel-side server.
