Prayers of the people

Also known as: the Petitions, Intercessions, Biddings

Prayers read or chanted by the deacon during the Liturgy of the Word. Concludes with a doxology said by the celebrant.

Occurs just after the Creed and before the Penitential Rite.

There are five forms to the Prayers of the People. Form III is typically used at Sunday masses, except in Advent and Lent when Form I is said by the celebrant.

Then follows the Prayers of the People. Intercession is offered according to one of the forms from Appendix 4, the People kneeling or standing, according to custom. The Prayers of the People may be omitted at weekday masses.
