My I Search is focused on closing the racial achievement gap between African American students and white students by strengthening students' critical thinking arsenal. This involves culturally relevant pedagogy that appeals to real-world writing. The art of argument writing must be strengthened through close reading of culturally enabling texts that appeal to the students' need for intellectual stimulation, historical grounding, and a socio-political voice for change.
