Filmstrip Assignment

Photography Filmstrip Project

This is a skill that was used in the creating of one of the past yearbooks. This project is worth 100 points.

Instructions:

1. You will begin with a filmstrip like this:

The filmstrip file for this project is located in Mr. Langley’s Digital Classroom in the Handouts page of Treasure Chest.

2. Students will take at least eight individual digital photos of objects (do not use a camera phone – no people in your photo, just objects).

Steps

A. Open the filmstrip.jpg file and save it in the My Pictures folder as your last name as the beginning of the file name in the PhotoShop .psd format

B. Upload your eight digital photos to the My Pictures folder.

C. Copy the eight files into your .psd file

D. Use the FreeTransform function to fit the photos to each frame size. This will allow you to slant, warp, and skew the photos to fit. It is a good idea to size them a little larger than the frame.

E. Copy the background as a new layer, making sure that the background copy is the top layer.

F. Erase the black frames of the top filmstrip layer to show the photos beneath. Be sure not to erase the frame dividers.

G. Dodge any photo layers that are in a highlighted area.

H. Crop the filmstrip to show just the strip containing your eight photos.

I. Save the final project, and then save a copy as a .jpg

J. Email the final .jpg version to piratedjlangley@gmail.com

3. Your finished project should look similar to this (we are using objects – no people):
