Speech Homework For the week of October 16:

Objectives: Students will be able to identify and analyze the ethical and social responsibilities of communicators, identify the components of the communication process and their functions, explain the importance of effective communication skills in personal, professional, and social contexts, recognize the audience as an important element in building responsible communication skills, and realize the importance and impact of both verbal and nonverbal communication.

  • If you didn't show me your character analysis, you need to do so by the end of this period.
  • Practice becoming your characters
  • Become one of your characters and speak to a partner for five minutes without breaking character.
  • "Walk-about" as one of your characters
    • Voice
    • Gestures – including Intend, Activate, and Linger
    • Physical body language used to become each character
    • Descriptive words
  • Be prepared to tell your scary story to the class - stories should be approximately 3 minutes long (no less than 2:45 and no more than 6:00).

Know your scary story - we will video record your story on Thursday. check with all your teachers before next class and email Mr. Langley which periods you are not available to tell scary stories, so he can build the storytelling schedule.
