Bowdoin Cross Country 1911
Faculty approved a contract with U Vermont for crosscountry races this Fall and the next. The cross country squad has been working for over a week.
Candidates include:
Hall '13, Auten '12, Timberlake '12, Wish '13, Tuttle '13, Tufts '13,
Tarbox '14, Melcher '15, Bacon '15, and others.
Bowdoin Orient, 3 November 1911
Final arrangements have been made for the Bowdoin-Vermont cross country race to be held Friday, 10 November. The five mile course will begin and end with one lap around the track.
As a result of time trials on Wednesday the following men made the team:

The cross country team will meet with Bates tomorrow at Lewiston. The course measures 4 1/4 miles.

The meet was postponed from Saturday. start at the Beta Theta Pi House and finished with one lap around the track at Whittier Field as Bates wanted a 4 1/4 mile course.

The Lewiston Evening Journal reported that Cpt Hall found a freight train on the track and had to climb it and it began to move carrying him about 40 yards before he could jump off. Tarbox and Deering both climbed the train, Parker got through when the train opened for a moment. Haskell and Auburn both climbed the train; the other runners waiting for the train to move before attempting to cross.
