《通識教育學刊》

To promote the development of general education among Chinese communities worldwide, the General Education Association of the Republic of China collaborated with Tsinghua University in 1994 to establish the "Journal Of General Education," a pivotal platform in Taiwan for exchanging information and ideas in the field of general education. As the landscape of general education rapidly evolves with increasing creativity and a growing number of colleges implementing general education, the Association launched "General Education on Line" in 2005, necessitating adjustments to enhance the functionality of the original "Journal of General Education."

Upon reconsidering the role and positioning of general education in university education, scholars in the field concluded that the General Education Association needed a representative academic journal. This journal would serve as a scholarly exchange platform for experts in general education to explore concepts, deepen research, and cultivate educational roots. Consequently, in collaboration with Chung Yuan Christian University, the General Education Association of the Republic of China established the "Taiwan Journal of General Education" in 2008 to replace the original quarterly publication. This initiative aims to continue exploring the direction of general education in the new century, facilitating the sharing of research findings and practical experiences among professionals in various fields of general education.

Today, we aspire for this publication to integrate the wisdom of general education from the Chinese world and beyond, anchoring in Taiwan while looking globally. We envision it becoming Taiwan's foremost scholarly journal in general education, injecting vitality and dynamism into general education, realizing the ideals of higher education, and establishing the academic status and societal value of general education.
