In addition to understanding reasons for the failings and omissions outlined in our Change initiatives and Youth Development pages the aims of what must be achieved must also be clear.
If these failings are to be avoided, a much sounder support strategy has to be developed for the SFA’s Youth Initiative. The SFA must take a leading role in formulating an implementation plan that matches the Developing Talent Plan in quality and strategic aims.
All interested parties must use whatever influence and support they can muster to help bring the following aims about.
The SFA must:
Include watching football at senior club matches and amend their Developing Talent Plan to suit
Research and set guidelines for clubs on suitable watching environments and hospitality activities for each age group
Liaise with the Scottish Government and Education Authorities to establish common aims between schools and clubs, so that clubs can contribute to educational and health benefits for each age group
Liaise with clubs and set implementation guidelines that allow clubs to choose which levels of the Developing Talent Plan they wish to participate in, according to available resources so that clubs can plan and meet the necessary criteria for participation
All clubs must:
evaluate their own policies to ensure they meet these criteria
begin discussions with other clubs to ensure representation of these aims within their various Associations
Whether you decide to take action or not you should be in no doubt what the SFA must deliver on. Click on this link if you still have doubts.
Whether through involvement with a club or acting on your own, you can contribute to this in many ways. If you haven’t already done so, visit What You Can Do for further details.
