Attendances are declining at an ever increasing rate and were doing so before the financial meltdown.
1.6 million supporters lost to Scottish football over the last decade.
Upwards of £29 million lost revenue per season.
This sum does not include money lost from cup games, play-offs, additional cost of entry to preferred ground areas, catering & hospitality or any other fan related income lost in the same period.
These comparisons are between a 10 + 10 league set up and a 16 + 10 set up.
Why? - even if based on the minimum attendances in the past decade, 89% of revenue generation and crowds comes from the top 26 clubs.
If based on maximum attendances in the past decade this percentage is even higher.
There is a lack of official figures dating back beyond the start of the last decade, particularly for the SFL clubs however, the figures in the attached document as accurate as was reasonably practical given current availability.
If anyone has access to official figures or to figures pre-dating the start of the last decade, please contact the site using Contact Details.
Anyone reading the attached document should be in no doubt that the picture it outlines could well be much starker if earlier attendance comparisons are drawn.
The implications are therefore somewhat conservative and could easily be much worse.
