Well then Mr Club Chairman, how confident are you that you will see a continued take-up of interest in your club?
These new supporters, they are out there after all, and all your club has to do is start stringing some results together to peak their interest. A little bit of success, a promotion here, a cup final there and they’ll come flooding through the turnstiles.
Well ….. won’t they?
Did'nt work for Dundee United FC or Ross Country FC did it!
Ah, but you have a different approach, don’t you? You are targeting the youngsters. Good idea, but just how successful is it?
Reality is that any youngster who becomes a supporter your club does so because he or she makes that decision for themselves, so what research have you done into their thought processes behind this decision.
Much of today’s thinking is dominated by how much of the sponsorship money you can get your hands on.
Well stop looking for hand-outs and start thinking of creating new and lasting revenue streams.
The above links only point you in the right direction – you have to do the real thinking!
Consequences
To anyone involved in running a club who has read this far, you may have some justification in berating the contents of this page, especially if your club is active in this essential effort for your club’s future survival.
All this effort and actions have consequences for the success or failure of your club.
Your ideas and efforts may be better ones than the few listed on these pages and if they have added value then your club will benefit. But, if your efforts undermine the benefits for those you wish to attract then you may as well have pressed the ‘self destruct’.
Much of this site is about community development and relationship between your club and it’s community must be a symbiotic one. To share in mutual benefits, your club must be as much a part of the community as the community is part of the club.
So do you really know the difference between whether your efforts are likely to be beneficial or not. And, if you have been wrong, do you have the courage to admit it?
