This site has simple message regarding this latest report – give it your support.
The report is comprehensive and above all it is honest.
This site welcomes the report’s findings and the fact that many of the questions asked by the report are the same questions asked by this site.
But in particular, the recommendations of the report address fundamental strategic aims advocated by Help Change Scottish Football and hopefully at last, some of us can now see our concerns and suggestion which were made to the Scottish Football Review, finally seeing the light of day and acknowledged to some degree by the Governing Bodies.
People in charge of the game will no doubt take time to reflect on the report’s proposals but a burning question will be what now?
Whilst this report is a vast improvement on the previous report it is in danger of being demeaned in a similar fashion.
Stuart Cosgrove of the BBC whose appreciation for the written word summed it up very well indeed:
“How do you ignite the fan and their passions for something that can come over as being arcane no matter how good in it’s drafting or it’s analysis?………how do you make people feel excited about a report that actually is quite difficult for the fan to necessarily get across?”
Help Change Scottish Football believes that answer to that is Fan Involvement in the introduction of the changes, by the setting of challenges that represents something in real terms to the fans, so that they can bring their own ideas and energies to bear in meeting those challenges.
Allow them to take ownership!
This requires real leadership and clarity in objectives that will act as a guide of where we are to go next, which a report on this scale cannot easily do.
We must not loose the momentum now that expectations have been raised and it is up to everyone to keep this momentum going.
You might not be able to give everything in this report your support so support the aspects of it that you can.
