On Tuesday, the boys hosted 8-time Fox Valley Conference champions Prairie Ridge. After a string of 3-4 losses over the past several years, the Golden Eagles were determined to break the streak. With great crowd support despite the cold, overcast conditions, the Eagles jumped out to a quick lead as Riley Rowan kicked off the team scoring with a 6-0, 6-0 win at second singles. Kendrick & Kerwin Chong and Matt Kastritis & Kyle Burton quickly extended the lead as they each came off in short order with straight set wins at first and second doubles, respectively. Soon after, Patrick Murphy wrapped up his third singles match with a dominant win to clinch the team victory, the first win Jacobs has had over Prairie Ridge in the history of the program. With the match already decided, a late surge from BJ Jones and Jacob Moeser fell just shy of extending their third doubles opponents to a deciding third set. Jakub Sobkowicz and Winston Yau, typically 3-set specialists, closed out the doubles competition with an uncharacteristically drama-free straight-set victory at the fourth doubles position. Visibly relieved to have the match in hand, the Golden Eagles turned their attention to the compelling match at first singles. In a repeat of last year's FVC final, Kailash Panchapakesan held off Hayden Dzurisin's challenge to win 6-4, 6-4 to wrap up the match. The win moved Jacobs to a record of 7-0 in the conference and 14-2 overall.
