The varsity roster was heavily depleted through the latter half of the week and throughout the weekend as a result of various scheduling conflicts. With several starters out for WYSE and Science Olympiad State Competitions as well as an out of state soccer tournament, several players were called up to keep the season's great start on track. At Grayslake North, we found ourselves ahead 3-2 with two matches heading into decisive third sets. At fourth doubles, seniors Andrew Morris and Sam Smith played aggressive tennis to capture the set and clinch the team decision shortly before teammates Jakub Sobkowicz and Winston Yau snuck away with a tie-break victory to preserve a 5-2 conference win. On Saturday, the varsity split squads to compete at both the Maine South and Freeport tournaments. Players throughout the lineup made strong contributions in both events to earn a pair of third place finishes!
