Active Jacobs Alumni

We've been fortunate to have had a number of exceptional athletes come through the Jacobs program through the years. While many of our players have continued to compete in college club and intramural programs, the men listed below have all continued their competitive careers as a member of their school's varsity tennis program.

Matt Kastritis ('17) Savannah College of Art & Design

Matt "Kastreudel" Kastritis, a conference champion and two time state qualifier in doubles, spent his freshman year getting acclimated to the demands of college life at SCAD. After a few hitting sessions with the team late in the year, however, he earned an invitation from the head coach to join the team, an opportunity Matt jumped at. With a roster full of international talent, he's sure to make great strides as a competitor.

Kerwin Chong ('18) Roosevelt University

No, I didn't accidentally post this twice, Roosevelt University is fortunate to land a big signing, adding "Thing 2" to their roster. Joining big brother Kendrick, Kerwin brings an explosive game to the Lakers and is sure to make a huge impact from day one. Side note: if any college match ever comes down to a "dance-off," RU will have it in the bag. I don't think I've ever seen anyone better on the dance-floor than "Kern."

Bryan Zbojna ('18) Elgin Community College

When Bryan "Zamboni" Zbojna moved to Jacobs as a Junior, he hadn't played tennis before. As a result of his phenomenal attitude, enthusiasm, and character (Zamboni was a team Sportsmanship Award Winner), Bryan made remarkable growth in his time at Jacobs and is now a proud member of the ECC Spartans!

Kyle Burton ('19) Eastern Illinois University

After a wildly successful high school career, Kyle will join the EIU Panthers, where his versatility will be a huge asset. Kyle qualified for the prestigious State Tournament all four years. He advanced as a doubles player his freshman (w/Matt Kastritis) and junior (w/twin brother Kevin) seasons and competed in singles during his sophomore and senior campaigns. Though an understated competitor, Kyle is among the most driven and determined individuals. EIU is getting a great one!
