Despite taking team titles in 2014 and 2015, the chances of a third Fox Valley Conference Championship seemed unlikely. Losing six of eleven starters, including two of three state qualifiers and four of five individual conference champs, combined with the strong lineups fielded by Prairie Ridge and Crystal Lake South meant 2016 would likely be a rebuilding season for the Golden Eagles. Despite all this, the girls continued to rise to the challenges they faced. Narrow 4-3 wins over the Wolves and Gators clinched the regular season title, pushing the girls' undefeated conference streak to 36-0, but leaving several question marks for the year-end tournament. At the 9-team end-of-season conference tournament, tough draws saw the Eagles suffer two first round defeats, all but ending their hopes of a third title. On Saturday, however, the girls played nearly flawless tennis, winning four individual titles and picking up a crucial three set, fifth place match win to claim a share of the title alongside Prairie Ridge. Crystal Lake South trailed by four points.
