On the homefront, the girls faced Grayslake North on Thursday. Without top singles standout, Ashley Kosy, in the lineup, the singles players all found themselves taking a significant step up in competition. Emily Halvorson slid up to the second singles position where she won a scrappy match, Shelley Seong filled in at the third singles position where she overcame early jitters to take a 6-3, 6-3 victory, and Rachael Buttolph faced the Knights' top player, recovering after dropping the first set to notch another dramatic three set win over a very capable opponent.
Meanwhile, in Decatur, recent Jacobs alum, Meagan Booth, playing in the second singles and second doubles positions for Millikin University recorded wins at both positions to propel the Big Blue to a historic win at Monmouth. The result ends a four year stretch of winless futility.
