JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

Technician II

The position of Technology II will be available immediately. Employees of the district may apply in writing to the Personnel office. Primary Purpose: Perform on-site technical work to install and maintain computer equipment and network and software applications throughout the district. Respond to work order requests by diagnosing and repairing network and computers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job, as is logging all work performed through the District's HelpDesk software (e.g. Eduphoria HelpDesk).
    2. Install/upgrade operating systems on PC-Compatible and Macintosh computers and configure them to work with existing computer networks.
    3. Assist other technicians with troubleshooting and repairs.
    4. Install/maintain software for network connectivity.
    5. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and solve hardware and software problems on Intel-based computers, including Macintosh and Windows operating systems.
    6. Perform tasks related to basic network connectivity including: constructing and installing patch cables, running wires through ceilings, down walls and installing raceways, termination of cat 5E jacks, tracing network connections, and troubleshooting and replacing nonfunctional connections.
    7. Act as on-site liaison with computer company services for troubleshooting and warranty work.
    8. Adding devices to Active Directory, moving devices from one organizational unit (OU) to another.
    9. Create standard, generic user accounts, as well as resetting passwords.
    10. Provide routine preventive maintenance of computers and other technology equipment.
    11. Keep records of repairs, maintenance, and other service costs.
    12. Assist in staff development on a variety of software applications for Mac and PC computers as well as academic web based programs.
    13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

    1. High school graduate or equivalent.
    2. At least 3 years experience in setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting computers/laptops/printers and other peripherals.
    3. Experience with Active Directory, and Open Directory preferred.
    4. Experience with PC and Mac OS Desktops and Laptops.
    5. Possess and retain a valid state of Texas driver’s License and be acceptable to the East Central School District insurance issuing authority for the operations of school district vehicles in the performance of assigned duties.

Equipment used: Computer, service tools, motor vehicle, telephone.

Working Conditions:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Climbing,

stooping, bending, heavy lifting, and kneeling; frequent use of small hand tools and

electronic test equipment; frequent district-wide travel between schools. Occasional

prolonged and irregular hours. Normal classroom/office environments, and work

around electrical energy.

Period of Employment: 260 days

Salary: As per district salary schedule
