The position of Database Manager will be available immediately. Employees of the district may apply in writing to the personnel office. Primary Purpose: Work with staff to capture and store data so as to generate decision support systems to satisfy user requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Collect, organize and analyze information to develop Filemaker Pro/Access database applications for specific user needs.
    2. Design, code, implement, maintain and document custom databases, web programming and other application software.
    3. Provide technical assistance for application and database software and hardware.
    4. Perform data downloads from ESC-20 and other external sources.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

    1. Working knowledge in various modem operating systems and productivity tools.
    2. Knowledge of business and/or student databases.
    3. Knowledge of microcomputer hardware and peripheral devices.
    4. Knowledge of database design and database languages.
    5. Skills in database normalization, denormalization, data extraction, and data aggregation.
    6. Demonstrated communication skills - written and oral.
    7. Good interpersonal and organizational skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

    1. High school graduate or equivalent.
    2. Minimum two years of programming experience in various modern operating systems.
    3. Minimum two years experience in database design and analysis.
    4. Experience in at least one of the following reporting tools: Access, Filemaker Pro
    5. Possess and retain a valid state of Texas driver’s License and be acceptable to the East Central School District insurance issuing authority for the operations of school district vehicles in the performance of assigned duties.

Equipment used: Computer, service tools, motor vehicle, telephone.

Working Conditions:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Climbing, stooping, bending, heavy lifting, and kneeling; frequent use of small hand tools and electronic test equipment; frequent district-wide travel between schools. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours. Normal classroom/office environments, and work around electrical energy.

Period of Employment: 260 days
